Chaos at Howe Community Park Leaves Four People Injured in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade Neighborhood

Law enforcement in Sacramento are looking into a shooting incident that erupted Saturday evening at Howe Park in Sacramento as Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were dissolving a large unsanctioned party of hundreds of attendees.

Before the Gunfire

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were first called to the park on Howe Avenue around 6:30 PM after getting calls of persons possibly in possession of concealed weapons. Shortly after, another report was received mentioning a potential altercation breaking out inside the park.

Aerial units flew over the park but could not confirm any ongoing fight. However, it became clear that a massive group had come together at the location without any permit or approval.

When the Shots Rang Out

Officers worked to disperse the crowd by forming a perimeter and announcing over their public address systems instructing the crowd to clear out. Around 15 minutes were given for attendees to disperse.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that 20 to 25 rounds of ammunition were fired. The shots sent the crowd running in all directions. Officers swiftly started locating gunshot victims.

Four People Shot

In total, four individuals were confirmed as gunshot victims. The victims — comprising three men and one woman all reportedly in their early to late twenties — were brought to hospitals in the Sacramento area. Medical personnel reported that two had critical injury classifications, one person had injuries of a moderate nature, and one victim's wounds were minor. According to authorities, no fatalities were reported and all four were stable.

Sacramento Metro Fire arrived on scene and provided medical assistance the four Arden Arcade Sacramento crime 2026 victims on location.

Physical Evidence

The primary shooting scene appears to have happened adjacent to the Cottage Way corridor close to the Home Depot store located at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Crime scene investigators found more spent casings on the Cottage Way roadway. Round impacts were discovered in the wrought iron fence near the Home Depot. This ballistic evidence suggested that a second shooter had been sending rounds south from the Cottage Way area targeting the Home Depot store. The Home Depot was placed on lockdown for a period of time. CSI units alongside detectives worked tirelessly through the early morning hours.

Suspects Detained

Intelligence received through law enforcement radio communications showed that a Kia was contacted by law enforcement in Solano County California. Four individuals were stopped and detained. Deputies were sent to retrieve the detainees to pick up those detained for further questioning. Video reviewed at the scene revealed that there were two gunmen.
